Consistently selected as a top carbon management company since 2016, Samsung C&T actively practices greenhouse gas reduction initiatives throughout its business processes, establishing itself as a global leader in carbon management.

In November 2022, Samsung C&T secured awards at three construction sites during the 18th Competition for Excellent Cases of Construction Environmental Management, co-hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The Giheung SDR New Construction Site earned the Minister of Environment Award in the Eco-friendly Green Management System category, while two construction sites received the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee Chairman Award in the Environmental Facility and Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction Technology and Method categories, respectively.
Eco-friendly construction site operation by Seoul and the construction company Ongoing compliance with voluntary agreements
Since 2022, Samsung C&T has actively carried out a number of fine dust reduction initiatives based on a voluntary agreement with Seoul to operate eco-friendly construction sites aimed at reducing fine dust generation. The company diligently adheres to the agreement through real-time monitoring and sharing of fine dust data at construction sites, as well as applying a real-name system for construction vehicles. In recognition of these efforts, three of the company's construction sites in Seoul – Yeouido Teachers’ Pension Redevelopment, Sin Banpo 3/Gyeongnam Redevelopment, and Jamsil Jinju Redevelopment - received commendations as excellent sites in July 2022.
Samsung C&T’s E&C Group for carbon reduction Signed the Forest Creation Project business agreement
Samsung C&T’s E&C Group adopted the “Forest Creation Project” as an activity to raise employee awareness on the need reduce carbon emissions, and signed a business agreement with Tree Planet, a social enterprise. The project has a 1:1 matching structure in which one tree is planted in a wildfire-affected area in Gangwon Province for each companion tree pot purchased. Samsung C&T employees and tenants participated, resulting in 2,382 trees planted in national forests. The company plans to continue expanding employee participation activities, such as living environment campaigns for carbon reduction.
Recycling discarded construction site helmets into employee ID card cases
Samsung C&T's E&C Group has ingeniously repurposed safety helmets discarded at construction sites, turning them into raw materials used to create employee ID card cases. Previously, waste plastics like these helmets were predominantly converted into fuel for incineration, serving merely as heat energy sources. Through dedicated recycling efforts, the materials have been transformed into ID card cases, which are now being issued as replacements. This initiative aims to shift the perception of waste from “something to be discarded” to a “recyclable resource,” and the company plans to contribute to a sustainable society through diverse resource circulation activities.
